My plans aren’t your plans, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my plans than your plans (Isaiah 55 CEB).
When you were just a newborn, I planned to
Load you in my back carrier and hike through the wild woods.
Plunk you in the baby bike seat and ride the rail trails.
Slather you with sunscreen and sift through the beach sand.
Blow raspberries, bubbles, and dandelion fluff.
Sing and dance.
Cuddle.
But
My plans are not God’s plans.
I do not understand His plans.
God’s plans are higher than my plans.
I do not grieve like those who have no hope
For someday I will go to you.
I hope to plan our time together once again.
Hiking, biking, beaching.
Blowing, singing, dancing.
Cuddling.
